Isaiah 61 represents the first occurrence of Jesus publicly quoting scripture (and His only recorded public reading), but more important it marked His first admission that He was in fact the promised Messiah, and this chapter was not a random choice on His part. Read Isaiah 61 and you will see that it is a prophetic synopsis of the Gospel... the DNA of God in man under the new covenant in Christ. For those who have ears.... let them hear.
